Past & Present


In 2000, the Graduate School of Education (GSE) was founded, and it started a pre-service teacher education program called MA in Teacher Education (TE) in four areas (Biology, English, History, Turkish Language & Literature; the program later the area of Mathematics the following year the year.

In 2003, GSE launched a five-year BA & MA combined program, called English Teacher Education (ETE).

Also in 2003, GSE liaising with the School of English Language launched another MA program for practising English Language Teachers, called MA in Management in Education (EM).

In 2004, GSE started another five-year BA & MA combined program, called Computer and Instructional Technology Teacher Education (CTE).

In 2007, the Graduate School of Education (GSE) initiated another program for practising teachers: MA in Curriculum & Instruction (
CI). [Still Active]

2010 - GSE replaced its MA in Teacher Education (TE) program with a new program called MA in Curriculum & Instruction with Teaching Certificate (
CITE) mainly due to policy changes in relation to teacher education across the country. The program has been delivered since then in five areas: Biology, English, Mathematics, Physics, & Turkish Language and Literature.

In 2011, GSE established its first doctoral program, the
PhD in Curriculum & Instruction. [Still Active]

In 2021, GSE introduced a new full-time MA program aimed at qualified teachers, titled the MA in Curriculum & Instruction with Teaching Certificate (
CI-IB). [Still Active]
