Over the years, mainly due to the changes in policies regulating pre-service teacher education in Turkey, several teacher education programs in different forms have been developed:
2000 - Graduate School of Education (GSE) was established, and it started offering a pre-service teacher education program, called MA in Teacher Education (TE), in four areas (Biology, English, History, Turkish Language & Literature; the area of Mathematics added the year after).
2003 - GSE started a five-year BA & MA combined program, called English Teacher Education (ETE).
2003 - GSE liaising with the School of English Language launched another MA program for practising English Language Teachers, called MA in Management in Education (EM).
2004 - GSE started another five-year BA & MA combined program, called Computer and Instructional Technology Teacher Education (CTE).
2010 - GSE replaced its MA in Teacher Education (TE) program with a new program called MA in Curriculum & Instruction with Teaching Certificate (
CITE) mainly because of policy changes in relation to teacher education across the country. It was delivered for more than 10 years in five areas: Biology, English, Mathematics, Physics, & Turkish Language and Literature.
